Review and Evaluation Warcraft 3: Reforged

By Jaycee • Monday, March 23, 2020

The first video game released in 1958, but this industry that brings us all together began to flourish twenty or thirty years ago, and at that time we witnessed the birth of many beautiful chains, and some of us began to say that that time is the "golden age." Among these many series and games, there was Warcraft 3, which achieved huge successes because of its characters, story, world, and style of play, becoming a classic of PC games.

So, it is expected that a large percentage of the players' community wants to try it again twenty years after its launch, and it also makes sense for the developer Blizzard to provide it with an improved version. That's right, and we got an improved version, but unfortunately, Reforged is not what was marketed and is not what the original game players wanted. However, it is still enjoyable even though its quality does not reach the original title.

Before going into the crucifixion of the review, I want to point out that I am a hatred for players who praise and fantasize about a game without a convincing reason. People hate who hate a game without a compelling cause; it is always best to evaluate the games from an objective and personal perspective. Indeed, we did not get many promises and features that Blizzard talked about (it will affect the evaluation), but I will not focus on them, but I will focus on the current game.

Although it is "not rubbish," as some players have said, it still contains several noticeable problems, including technical errors such as a drop in the number of frames without doing a lot of things and various other minor errors. Even, it affected sufficiently to notice them; the original version often contained. These problems are also. When you play an updated version two decades after its launch, you will expect to get a copy free from these errors.

When we come to gameplay, Warcraft 3 still has the same fun feel that made it a leader in this genre. Managing a group of orcs and returning to the building block, logging, gold mining, and other tasks that you will see as you progress, all of these essential aspects are as pleasant and satisfying as what we are used to. The story has not changed with the improved version, which is good because the Warcraft 3 story is good and maybe the best thing about it.

The menus and user interface are still the same and have not touched by significant changes, and it is a little sad, but they are still beautiful and practical. The improved version menus of Warcraft 3 are better in stages than the original version on modern screens. Still, it was indeed possible to make adjustments and improvements to the sounds, balance, performance, and other places that did not improve. There were plans for these things, but for some reason, Blizzard retracted them, and this is one of the reasons that contributed to the fall of Reforged.

Is Warcraft 3 worthy of an improved, optimized version for it?

The answer is yes.
Will fans of the original version want to see enhanced graphics, colors, and mechanisms? The answer is definitely. Unfortunately, this is not the case; you will feel that Warcraft 3: Reforged is like an update or expansion of the original game rather than a fully optimized version. If Blizzard had not marketed it as an enhanced version but rather as an upgrade or development, it would have delighted players in stages and avoided the controversy that hit them at launch. But they did not.
I think that Activation and Blizzard wanted to make an enhanced version (Remix). Still, during their start, they switched to an improved version (Remaster), and the mixture between them did not improve the game in terms of errors and performance. This led to the community's anger that cares about these matters as much as any other player's community. Warcraft 3: Reforged is fun gameplay and a thriller for the story, but it is not a 2020 game, but rather for some reason, I would advise you to try it if you are a fan of this style.

Blizzard recently told us that it is working to correct these errors and add the features that I have discussed, so this improved version may become much better over time. Still, for the time being, we can say that it is an enhanced version that is not appropriate for a classic game that contributed to the prosperity of this industry.

Conclusion

What we like about the game:

  • The gameplay is not old and still fun
  • The story is still interesting, always with a twist!

What we don't like about the game:

  • Technical errors and poor performance.
  • It lack of modern features and some features found in the original version.
